Something lacking in educational system in Japan

One day, local newspaper reported an event, in which high school students having biology class took second graders at elementary school to a reef walk. The kids enjoyed facing to marine invertebrate, and asked accompanying students “What’s this?”.

In Japan, children are often kept off from the sea because they are taught it’s dangerous place. Parents also do not have any interesting and comprehensive knowledge about marine life, coastal morphology, and folklore at coastal area, climate and physical phenomenon in the sea. That’s really disadvantage for the development of children’s mind and strength for nature. And the bottom line of conducting such events is high school students also had a lot of benefit through this extracurricular lecture for children. They need to keep their eye on the kids, answer for their questions correctly, and give a fun for them. Responsibility and experience will encourage them to study hard, and make them to be man and woman with assurance for themselves and kindness for other parson. I think that most of Japanese students are indulged and may not have positive opinion about why they are studying. At university, there are no internship system, and the system of TA(Teaching Assistant) and RA(Research Assistant) is not practical one. More improvements are needed now.
