Renewal in lab○rat○ly?

(It's weird that this article is often attacked by spam comments. So I tried to process the title not to be searched.)

Because now it is period between semesters, member in laboratory is changing little by little. Talented PD researcher, Jennifer, is going to move Santa Barbara in CA. Though it is difficult for PD researcher to get new position also in USA as well as in Japan, good researcher can get new job steadily. Thomas, who gave me a lot of supports both inside and outside campus, went back to France last week. Professors in laboratory seem to hope that he will be back here soon, because he is excellent student! (Exaggeration? I know he is sometimes visiting this blog.) I also hope so.

(Announce of farewell breakfast on the black board. But it was planed to start from 7:30 a.m.! In Japan, It's the time when I'm still sleeping. )

Then, Dr. M. Vermeij is going to come here from Amsterdam Univ. in Netherlands, as researcher who makes up for Jennifer’s works.

He has good skills for ecological and biological studies, especially studies about the mechanisms and environmental factors about coral reproductions. He will become necessary person in laboratory soon, by these skills and his personality. Because his main field is Florida Keys and Netherlands territories in Caribbean Sea, he is familiar with history, economy and coral reefs status around this area. We can learn many things (e.g., cultural difference reflected to activity and idea) in worldwide viewpoints, because the people who are studying in this laboratory gathered from all over the world. Because Japan can be almost categorized as mono-racial, mono-linguistic and mono-cultural country, it is no wonder that most of Japanese seem to lack cosmopolitan feeling.
