Time travel to Edo era?

The destination of this business trip is KYOTO! Whao!
It’s 3rd times for me to visit Kyoto, but I was still excited. Kyoto is special city even for us. This time I was supposed to visit “Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) (http://www.chikyu.ac.jp/index_e.html). The philosophy of this institute seems to be the collaboration of human science and natural science. Because most of environmental problems in land and coastal areas, which are detected by chemical parameters, are related to human activities, we need to cope with these problems with various angles (sociology, geography, geology and chemistry etc.) to better understand the mechanisms. My study is also based on this idea, and then I love the concept of this institute.
The building of this institute was constructed in last autumn at northern hill side in Kyoto city. Not to disturb original scenery of this area, surprisingly, the look of this new building is like the houses in “Edo periods (from AD 1600 to 1860 in Japan)!! Amazing! I felt that I time-traveled into Edo-periods. (But the system and facilities inside building was excellent, up to date one. Once I went out back yard to see beautiful scenery during waiting time before job interview, I was locked out rapidly)
