Chemical stock [Research]
This stock room at Chemistry Department is very useful at University of Hawaii, which is located far away from mainland.
There are many kinds of stationery, reagent, glassware and fittings for the chemical experiments. We can get such tools anytime, when we want them. I feel I enjoy shopping, when I’m looking for some lab tools here.
Product show [Research]
I really miss Mr. Kaku, who was agent between researcher and products company in Japan, and came our lab every day to hear our order. When we told him our study design and/or appearance of products, he brought us the tools after a couple of days. Here, I’ve not got used to order the tools searching catalog and web sites. At that time, Products Show held at campus once a year was good chance for me.
Many companies came from main land and gave us catalog and explanation of products. Food corner set at the center of space was also good! Free luch!
Res○arch tri○ to M○ui Isl○nd [Research]

Last week I visited one of neighbor islands of O’ahu, Maui Island, to take a look the field area of my laboratory and support coworkers’ monitoring and research surveys.
This time, this research trip seemed to be a vacation during Golden Week (long holidays in Japan), because I didn’t take any study theme.

Oh my Gosh… [Research]
I’ve spilt tea cup over my laptop. Then, keyboard is not working now, though I quickly wiped out inside. Fortunately HD was safe. Until I get new keyboard parts at Akihabara as known as world-famous electric town (http://www.akiba.or.jp/english/), I’ll survive with USB attached keyboard.
Small trip [Research]
I had small trip to Makapuu and Kaaawa, east coast of O’ahu Island, following Cheryl who is teaching assistant (TA) and collects some brown and red algae for the class. Because that I can go sea anytime when I want to go was one of motivations I selected this place, this short trip was really fantastic.
My Office [Research]
Now I occupy a room, because visitor researcher at this lab is just one. Though I need to go other room to have communication with students and other researchers in English, the study environment is pretty good. I felt culture shock for bringing bike into the office room.
The building where I start my study [Research]
I’ll study at Department of Botany, Univ. of Hawaii (UH) this year (http://www.botany.hawaii.edu/).
Originally, I started my study at Geography Dept., when I was under grad. Then, I moved to biogeochemistry lab at Ocean Research Institute at Univ. of Tokyo (http://www.ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/index.html). Finally I finished my PhD study at Planetary & Earth Science at Univ. of Tokyo (http://www.eps.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp/index_en.html). What an inconstant man I am. No! I’ve pursued interdisciplinary study this decade!
